Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:
Army Veteran Louis Elbert Cupp, Age 68 of Mountain Home, TN.
Died Nov. 1, 1992
Louis was born June 8, 1924 in Claiborne County, Tennessee.
He is buried Berry Highland South Memorial Park in Knox County, Tennessee.
At the age of 18 Louis entered military service in the US Army on 02 July 1943 and entered basic training at Ft Oglethorpe, Georgia. His military rank was that of Private First Class. During WW2 and was stationed in France and between December 1944 and June 1945 he was held as a prisoner of war (POW) by Germany at Stalag 4B Muhlberg Sachsen.
It was an honor to walk 6.13 Miles with Army Veteran Louis Elbert Cupp. We walked by Holiday Hills Lake and headed towards town where we made a stop in at the Veterans Memorial Park. we then headed back south and then Sparta Hwy to home. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero. We had 273 honks today. Thank you. It was an amazing walk.
