Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army Veteran PFC Tyler J. Derossett, Age 30 of Streator,IL.
Died Jul. 24, 2019
PFC Derossett served in the Army from 2007 to 2013
Tyler loved the outdoors, no matter the weather. Winter you could find him sledding and snowboarding on whatever hill was available. He loved to fish and to camp. He was quick to offer help to anyone in need. He could be loud and obnoxious, he said that was to drive away the fake people, but those he loved he protected and watched out for as best he could. He is sorely missed every day.
We had a great 6.17 Mile walk today. We walked to Lake Holiday and spent a moment looking at the beautiful water then we walked up town to the War Memorial Park. As we were visiting the War Memorial we also payed tribute to a local Vietnam Army Veteran who we lost recently as they passed by us. I will never forget the way I felt that moment in time. I still have chills thinking about it as I type this. I felt that Tyler was right their with us honoring this Veteran as he was on his way to his resting place. We then headed back home. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today and I want to thank all who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero. We had 166 honks today. Thank you so much.
Army Veteran PFC Tyler J. Derossett will not be forgotten !
