Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:
Air Force TSGT David Devier, Age 28 of Goldsboro, NC.
Died Apr 28, 2017
Lost his battle with PTSD
He grew up in Ridgefield, attending school there and eventually graduating in 2006. While in high school, David loved skateboarding and welding. Following high school, David joined the Air Force, attending basic training at Lackland AFB in Texas.
David loved the outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling, many opportunities of which were provided to him by the Air Force. David was deployed to the Middle East several times, It wasn’t his first choice of places to visit, but he did get to see a lot of the world and many stories, both hilarious and tragic.
Anyone who knew David knew that he was incredibly generous of heart, time, and money. He was always willing to help his fellow man, even if it meant literally taking the coat off of his own back to give to a homeless man.
We had a great 13.05 Mile walk today. We walked up town to the War Memorial Park then we headed out East First Street and stopped to visit 18 of our Fallen Brothers in the Crossville City Cemetery. We then headed on out East First Street and stopped in the Hyder Cemetery to visit 4 of our Fallen Brothers. We then headed on out to Peavine Road and walked across the I-40 Overpass. We then headed out on Milo Lemert Parkway and then headed back towards town on 127. We made a stop at Cumberland County EMS to give blood in honor of Baby Riley. We then stopped in at Express Lunch for some lunch and then headed towards home.
I want to thank everyone who asked about who I was walking for today and I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 413 honks today. It was amazing. Thank You !
Air Force TSGT David Devier will not be forgotten !
Thank you so much. I am speechless. Sincerely, David’s mom
