Marine PFC Troy Tony Threet, Age 20 of Elyria, OH.
KIA Feb. 10, 1968 Vietnam
Private First Class Troy Tony Threet was born on June 8, 1947, and was born in Crossville, TN. He served his country in the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corps, as a rifleman in G Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division. His tour in Vietnam began on December 24, 1967. Less than two months later, on February 10, 1968, PFC Threet was killed under hostile conditions in Thua Thien province, South Vietnam; he was 20 years old at the time of his death. PFC Threet is memorialized on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Panel 38E, Line 73.
We had a great 7.52 Mile walk this morning. We walked by Holiday Hills Lake and then headed up town to the War Memorial Park where we read his name on the Memorial Wall. We then headed to his grave in the Crossville City Cemetery. We visited some brothers and sisters while we were at the cemetery and then we headed back towards the house. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero. We had 129 honks. It was amazing. Thank you.
