My walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army PVT Sean A. Silva, Age 23 of Roseville, CA.
KIA Oct. 9, 2003 during Operation Iraqi Freedom
He was assigned to 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Polk, La.
His unit coaxed from their vehicles by civilians who said they wanted to show them “something important.” They were then attacked with guns, rocket-propelled grenades and makeshift explosives. PVT Silva was killed and 4 other soldiers were wounded.
He grew up in the Tara Hills area of San Pablo, attended Pinole Valley High School where he lettered in football as a quarterback for the Pinole Valley Spartans; and was an active member of Boy Scout Troop 146. After Sean graduated high school, he attended Sierra College in Rocklin. He worked at Home Depot, Toyota, and Lowes. It was in February of 2003, Sean joined the Army and went through basic training in Fort Knox, KY. In early June, Sean completed basic and advanced training and was attached to the 2nd Armored Calvary Regiment of Fort Polk, LA.
We had an amazing 5.81 Mile walk. The leaves are changing and this morning the birds were singing so loud. We had a great walk.
I want to thank everyone who honked and waved and saluted in helping me honor this hero. He will not be forgotten !
