Army PVT Doyl B. Ashburn, Age 22 of Fentress County, TN.
KIA Aug. 7, 1943
CO F 15TH INF 2ND BN
He was killed in action August 7 in the North Africa area.
Pvt Ashburn was born and reared in Fentress county. He enlisted in the Army September, 1942.
We had a great 5.29 Mile walk. We didn’t let a little rain stop us. We headed up town to the War memorial Park and met with some of his family. We read his name out loud from the Memorial Wall under World War II. We then continued our walk back home. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero. We had 101 honks today. Thank You.
