Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Navy Veteran Marvin Walsh, Age 76 of Bristol, VA.
Died Dec. 31, 1995
He was a native of South Dakota and had lived in Bristol for several years. He attended the First Assembly of God, Lee Highway. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea. Retired from the Navy as a Chief after 20 years of service. He worked for 26 years with the Washington County, Va., school system at Abingdon Technical School. He was a member of the Patton-Crosswhite VFW Post No. 6975 in Bristol. VA.
We had a great 9.19 Mile walk today. We started our walk by walking through “The Gardens” and watched the ducks. We then walked out on Northside Drive. We watched the buffalo and then headed down 127. We made a stop at the War Memorial Park where I presented an Appreciation Award to Robert Batz for walking with us. We then walked by Holiday Hills Lake on our way home. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved and saluted in helping us honor this hero today. We had 161 Honks. Thank you
Navy Veteran Marvin Walsh will not be forgotten !
