My walk was dedicated in honor of :
Army Pfc. Miguel A. Villalon, Age 21 of Joiliet, IL.
KIA Jan. 11, 2020 in Kandahar Province, Afganistan during Operation Freedom’s Sentinel
He was assigned to the 307th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Villalon was an East Aurora High School graduate.
Villalon joined the Army in 2018 to be a combat engineer and reported to the 307th as his first assignment. His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Army Achievement Medal with “V” device (awarded to service members who perform “meritoriously under the most arduous combat conditions”) and the Combat Action Badge.
This was his first combat deployment.
Had an amazing walk today. I don’t normally like the cold weather that much but it really felt good to get out and walk in the snow this morning since I have not been able to walk for the last three days. I want to thank everyone who honked and waved in helping me honor this hero. It was amazing. Thank you and he will NOT be forgotten.
