My walk this morning was dedicated in honor of:
Marine LCPL Doyle Lynn Bell, Age 20 of Hull, TX.
KIA Dec. 18, 1967 Vietnam
He is honored at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Panel 32E, Line 16.
Doyle is buried at Guidry Cemetery in Batson, TX.
Doyle was born and raised in Liberty Hill.
He enlisted in the Marines 10 October 1966, at a recruiting office, while living with his wife and daughter in Batson, Texas.
When Doyle arrived in Vietnam 14 May 1967, he was assigned to Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Doyle was a passenger on a military vehicle that hit and detonated a hostile land mine in the vicinity of Tu Cau (3) and 8 kilometers north of Dien Ban. Doyle died as a result of fragmentation wounds to the head and body from the mine explosion.
We had a great 7.67 Mile walk this morning. I want to thank all who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. It was amazing.
Marine LCPL Doyle Lynn Bell will not be forgotten !
