Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:

Army SGT Shawn Dunkin, Age 25 of Covington, VA.
KIA Feb 19, 2007 Operation Iraqi Freedom

SGT Dunkin was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 89th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y

He was a cavalry scout noncommissioned officer who enlisted in the Army in January 2001. He completed basic and advanced individual training at Fort Knox in Kentucky.

Dunkin was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, following his initial training. In October 2005, he was reassigned to Fort Drum. He previously served in Iraq in 2003.

We had a great 6.78 Mile walk tis morning. We walked by the Army National Guard Armory on our way to the 9/11 Memorial. We then headed up town to the War Memorial Park where we read some of the names of our Fallen brothers. We then headed over by CCHS before heading back to the house. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero today. We had 215 honks. It was amazing. Thank You !

Army SGT Shawn Dunkin will not be forgotten !

(I want to thank Express Lunch for flying our beautiful colors)
