Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:

Army WWII Veteran CPL David Clinton Tharp, Age 74 of Orlando,FL.
Died Jan. 24, 1999

CPL Tharp was originally from Petersburgh Indiana.

He was with the 101st Airborne, 502nd PIR and served in radio communication and artillery in regimental headquarters under Colonel Cole, Colonel Michaelis and Colonel Chappuis.

He was in D-Day, Carentan, Holland and the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded 4 Bronze Stars with “V”, 2 Purple Hearts, and many more. The Dutch Embassy in Washington will be providing the Orange Lanyard awarded by Holland in 1944.

We had a great 10.75 mile walk this morning. We walked by the National Guard Armory and crossed 127 and headed up Jamestown Hwy. On our way over to Genesis Road we walked by The Flying Pig BBQ. We walked over to the I-40 overpass then we headed back toward town on Genesis Road. We made a little detour and stopped in the City Cemetery and visited with 11 of our Fallen Brothers and 1 of our Fallen Sisters. We then made a stop down town at the War Memorial Park before heading home. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero. We had 242 honks. It was amazing. Thank You.

Army WWII Veteran CPL David Clinton Tharp will not be forgotten ! .
