Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army Veteran Michael F Murray, Age 52 of West Springfield Ma.
Died Mar 30, 2016
He was born and raised in Springfield but settled in West Springfield in 1993. He was a West Springfield Police Officer and recently retired over 20 years of service to the town. In 1984, Mike joined the U.S. Army 2nd Ranger Battalion and honorably served his country during the Gulf War and was the recipient of a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 6714 and the Verdi Club in West Springfield. He learned parachuting in the service and skydiving became one of his favorite things to do later in his life.
We had a great 10.43 Mile walk today. We walked by Lake Holiday and then headed up town to the War Memorial Park. We then headed up 127 and turned onto Northside Drive and headed back to Sparta Hwy. I want to thank everyone that honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 161 honks today. It was amazing. Thank You
Army Veteran Michael F Murray will not be forgotten !
