My walk today was dedicated in honor of:

Army Sgt. Norman L. Tollett, Age 30 of Elyria, OH.
KIA Apr. 28, 2007 during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Baghdad.
He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C

His visit to New York City and visiting ground zero in 2001 got him to thinking about joining the military. It was about that time when pro football player Pat Tillman joined the Army. An athlete though his high school years, was impressed by Tillman’s statement that he wanted to be part of a bigger team, said his father, who lives on Loyola Drive in Elyria. After a couple years thinking about it he decided to join. His mother said that he told her he wanted to do something to make a difference, and then he said if I can take the place of one young husband or young father, it will make it all worth it.
That kind of caring, giving attitude was typical of Norman.

He was chosen honor graduate of his platoon.

My walk today was amazing. I was able to walk 5.47 miles in his honor. I want to thank everyone who honked and waved in helping me honor this hero. He will not be forgotten.

  1. Thank you so very much Tim – this is my second cousin. He was an amazing guy, we loved him very much.He used to spend summers here when he was a kid and teenager with my nephew Josh Tollett. When he was on leave before he deployed he would come and stay with Josh and his family. Thank you so much for what you do

    1. Hi Marti,
First I want to say how sorry I am for your loss. Your son was a brave soldier and we owe him everything. I am glad that I could do the walk for him and the support (Honks and Waves) that we got during the walk were just amazing. We will keep his memory alive.
