My walk this morning was dedicated in honor of :
Marine Cpl. Patrick R. Nixon, Age 21 of Nashville, TN
KIA on March 23, 2003 in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom
He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
He was the first Tenneassean killed in combat in Iraq. The Sumner County Board of Commissioners dedicated the bridge spanning the Gallatin By-Pass on State Route 386 in honor of Cpl. Nixon.
His father and grandfather were also US Marines.
His mother’s ashes were spread over his grave at Arlington Cemetery.
18 US Marines including Cpl Nizon were killed that day.
He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery on April 17, 2003.
The 10.09 mile walk went great. I want to thank everyone for your support in helping me honor this hero this morning. All the honks, and waves were great. We will keep his memory alive.
