My walk this morning was dedicated in honor of:
Army Pfc. Patrick S. Fitzgibbon, Age 19 of Knoxville, TN.
KIA August 1, 2009 in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom.
He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, CO.
Patrick was born on March 30, 1990 at University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was the son of Donald and Trish Fitzgibbon. Patrick was raised in Tennessee and Indiana. Always at the ready with a good joke, he grew up to be quite a humorous person. While some who knew Patrick might describe him as an idealist, his friends and family understood well that Patrick was always in pursuit of life’s endless possibilities and opportunities available to him.
He attended South Doyle High School and joined the US Army his 12th grade year.
Patrick had only been deployed 3 months before he was killed.
He was awarded the Bronze Star posthumously.
The bridge on Rutledge Pike in Knoxville will honor Pfc. Patrick S. Fizgibbon who was killed in combat in Mushan village, Afghanistan
What an amazing walk I had. Got to visit with 4 different people who stopped to thank me and shake my hand in what I was doing. I want to thank everyone for helping me honor this hero this morning. The honks and waves were just amazing. It is very special to have you all honk in their honor. Thank You
