Today my walk was dedicated in honor of :

Air Force 1LT William W. Bancroft Jr, Age 25 of Indianapolis, IN.
KIA Nov. 13, 1970 Vietnam

First Lieutenant William Warner Bancroft Jr., Served with the 14th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, 432nd Tactical Reconnaissance Wing, 7th Air Force.

On November 13, 1970, MAJ David I. Wright, pilot, and 1LT William W. Bancroft Jr., navigator, departed their base at Udorn, Thailand on an aerial reconnaissance mission over North Vietnam. During the mission, while just east of Tan Ap in Ha Tinh Province, their RF-4C Phantom jet was seen to explode and crash while making a low level pass over the objective target. It was not known at that time whether Wright and Bancroft survived. On 18 November 1970, the U.S. intelligence community received information which indicated that Wright and Bancroft were dead, and they were listed as Killed in Action/Body Not Recovered.

1LT Bancroft was awarded: Purple Heart, Air Medal, National Defense, Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Campaign Medals.

We had a great 5.80 Mile walk this morning. We walked by the Bakery and then headed up town. We stopped at the War Memorial Park down town . I want to thank all who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 72 honks this morning. Thank you.

Air Force 1LT William W. Bancroft Jr, You will not be forgotten and maybe one day we will be able to bring you home.
