Today my walk was dedicated in honor of:

Army SPC Jesse A. Snow, Age 25 of Fairborn, OH.
KIA Nov. 14, 2010 Operation Enduring Freedom

SPC Snow was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky

Jesse graduated in 2003 from Fairborn High School and was involved in various sports and a cadet in AF Jr ROTC. Jesse had a heart of gold and always considered the needs of others before himself. He did yard work for many of his neighbors and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Dayton. He joined the Army in April 2009 and arrived at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, in August 2009, where was an Infantryman assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). While deployed, he often distributed candy, toys, and chap stick to the local Afghan children. Jesse believed that making a better life for these children was just as important as serving his country. Unit members said that he shared his last meal with a fellow hungry soldier. Jesse was one of five soldiers killed in action in the Kunar Province Afghanistan on November 14, 2010 when insurgents attacked their unit. He is survived by both his parents; his siblings; nieces; nephews; paternal grandfather; maternal grandparents; and his aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal Grandmother Rose Snow.

Spec Snow was awarded the Silver Star posthumously
Specialist Snow’s heroic actions were directly responsible for preventing further casualties to his platoon by safeguarding Sergeant Outman and other wounded Soldiers until Specialist Snow himself was fatally wounded. Specialist Snow’s courageous actions on 14 November 2010 saved the lives of three fellow brothers in arms and also solely denied the enemy the ability to capture any American Soldiers. Specialist Snow’s actions are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflects distinct credit upon himself, this Command, the Combined Joint Task Force, and the United States Army. Action Date: November 14, 2010.

We had a great 6.18 mile walk this morning. We walked down town to the War Memorial Park and read some of the names on the memorial. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 31 honks this morning. Thank You.

Army SPC Jesse A. Snow will not be forgotten !
