Today my walk was dedicated in honor of:

Marine PVT Rudolph Herbert Reinhold, Age 20 of Salt Lake City, UT.
KIA Dec. 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor onboard the USS Arizona

Rudolph Reinhold was born to Bernhardt and Lina Reinhold of Annaberg, Germany, on October 31, 1921. The large German family emigrated to the United States in the 1920s and settled in Salt Lake City, Utah. Rudolph who appears on several records by his middle name, Herbert decided to serve his adopted country, and enlisted in the Marine Corps

Reinhold joined up in Salt Lake City on January 11, 1941; he completed boot camp and Sea School in San Diego. He was assigned to the Marine detachment of the USS Arizona.
Served aboard the Arizona until December, 1941.

His body was never recovered from the USS Arizona

He was posthumous awarded: Purple Heart, American Defense Service Medal w/Fleet Clasp, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/Star, WWII Victory Medal

We had a great 7.56 Mile walk today. The weather was beautiful. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today. I want to thank all who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero.

  1. He is my great uncle, thanks for what you do for them. Never forget them and their service .
    I didn’t even know snout the awards he received.

  2. I don’t know what to say other than thank you. Herbert was my uncle. I’m touched beyond words.
