Today my walk was dedicated in honor of:

Navy Veteran Raymond J. Eskind, Age 76 of New Iberia, LA.
Died Dec. 27, 2001

He was a US Navy Veteran, having served in World War II (European Theater of Operations and the South Pacific) and the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post 1982 and American Legion Post 365. He was a parishioner of St. Marcellus Catholic Church and a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7050. Ray was a longtime member of the New Iberia Boat Club, Ancient Order of Creole Gourmets and was the scoutmaster of Troop 4 on Weeks Island for 17 years.

He was retired from M.A. Patout and Sons where he was the chief electrician. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, reading and camping.

We had an amazing 7.57 Mile walk. The weather was perfect. We got to meet his granddaughter Astrid on our walk. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. It was amazing.

We will not forget Navy Veteran Raymond J. Eskind !
