My walk today was dedicated in honor of:
WWII Army Air Force Veteran Maj. Edward G. Ellenberg, Age 86 of Fairfield Glade
Died Aug. 17, 2007
He was born Sept. 15, 1920 in Union City, NJ. He retired from the United States Forest Service as a land use planner and was also a fighter pilot during World War II in the United States Air Force where he retired with the rank of Major. He was a charter member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, served as chief of the Fairfield Glade Fire Department for five years and was also a county commissioner for 14 years.
We had a great 10.01 mile walk today. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today and I want to thank Jill for walking with us. Mac and Jill are from California and I met them on one of my other walks one day. It was great having you here helping me honor this Hero. I also want to thank the guy who stopped along the road and got out of his car and took his hat off as we walked by. I don’t know your name but that was amazing and I can’t thank you enough. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this Fallen Hero.
WWII Army Air Force Veteran Maj. Edward G. Ellenberg You will not be forgotten !
Thank you all for honoring my Dad, Ed Ellenberg. I am truly honored. There really no words to express my gratitude for the 3 of you. God bless you and God bless America.
