My walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army Veteran SPC Garrett S. Briggs, Age 28 of Richmond Hill, GA.
Died Jan. 31, 2018
Specialist Garrett Spencer Briggs was born on July 31, 1989 in Santa Ana, California. He was the definition of a “true Californian” from his free- spirited nature to his love of the outdoors. Garrett was a gifted auto technician, graduating at the top of his class and finished on the Dean’s list from the Nascar Institute. He went on to work in the Lowe’s Pit Crew at the Charlotte Speedway and then was recruited to work at the BMW Headquarters in San Francisco.
After losing his mother, Garrett went on to join the military. He served honorably in the United States Army from 2011-2016. He was assigned to the 1/75th Ranger Regiment and afterwards to the 82nd Airborne. Garrett deployed to Afghanistan with the 1/75th from 2012-2013.
His service accomplishments include: Ranger Assessment Selection Program graduate, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with the Campaign Star, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Parachutist Badge, and is presently a candidate and applicant for the Purple Heart.
Garrett was a loving husband, father, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Miranda, his daughter, Essex, his sister Kelly and her three beautiful children, and his father Gerry.
Our walk today was amazing. We walked 13.40 Miles , we walked out to the interstate and we stopped at the City Cemetery to visit some Veterans and then up town we stopped by the war memorial park. I want to thank each and everyone of you who honked and waved in helping me honor this hero.
He will not be forgotten.. (note.. I will share my video that I took as soon as I am done editing it. )
