My walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army SSGT Delmar White, Age 37 of Wallins, KY.
KIA Sept. 2, 2007 during Operation Iraqi Freedom
SSGT Delmar joined the KY National Guard in 1998.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery, Kentucky Army National Guard, Carrollton, Ky
They were escorting a convoy in Iraq when a roadside bomb exploded.
SSGT Delmar had previously served in the Marines, and was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm.
He had received the Purple Heart medal.
He is buried in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Nicholasville, KY.
We had an amazing 10.18 Mile walk today. We stopped by the war memorials down town and then walked out and visited some fallen veterans in the Hyder Cemetery.
I can’t thank everyone enough for the honk’s and waves helping me honor this hero. I am feeling really blessed.. The honks were a little more often and a little louder today then normal. It was just amazing.
SSGT Delmar will not be forgotten !
