Today my walk was dedicated in honor of:
Army Veteran SFC Kyle S Simpson, Age 50 of Jacksonville, FL.
Died Feb. 6, 2017
He graduated from St. Lawrence Central in 1984 and enlisted in the U. S. Army. He took position in the Military Police and worked up the ranks to Sergeant First Class. Kyle was dedicated to his country and the security of its servicemen. He was stationed in Germany where he directed and trained Physical Security Inspectors, maintained oversight of regional law enforcement investigations, was a senior advisor for the Army’s Department of Emergency Services (USAG Hessen), and was a member of the Commanding Generals Personal Security Detail. He received many decorations during his Army career; Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, and 8 Good Conduct Medals. He retired from the Army after 24 years of service on July 31, 2008.
Never one to be idle, he took a job as Company Intelligence Support Team Instructor/Training Specialist for the Stanley Company, then went back to Germany where he was a Physical Security Specialist for the U. S. Army Garrison in Stuttgart. He moved to Jacksonville, FL, where he continued contracting as a Physical Security Inspector for the government, inspecting armories and post offices. One of his favorite security details was protecting the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.
We had an amazing walk this morning. I want to thank Robert for walking with me and I want to thank everyone who honked and waved in helping me honor this hero.
He will not be forgotten !
