Today my walk was dedicated in honor of:
Army Veteran Spec4 Jerald Kauffman, Age 66 of Lafayette, IN.
Died May 21, 2020
After graduating in 1972 he enlisted in the US Army. He served at Fort Bragg as a Spec4 and a cook 1973-1977.
His passion for cooking continued after serving in the army and continued until his retirement in 2019. Jerry enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and was an avid Purdue and Cincinnati Reds fan.
He married Deborah Davis on July 22,1978 at Wabash College Chapel in Crawfordsville.
I worked with his parents and brothers & Sisters back in the late 70’s.
Even tho the tears were flowing by the time I made it back home they were tears of joy. We had an amazing 2.21 mile walk this morning. As I walked I thought back all those years that I use to work with Jerald’s family. I am sure his parents (who are no longer with us) were very proud of him. I had became friends with his whole family back in the late 70’s and worked with them for several years. It was an honor to walk with Jerald this morning and I want to thank everyone who honked and waved in helping me honor him. He will not be forgotten.
