Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army Veteran John William Peevely, Age 71, of Speedwell, TN.
Died Apr. 16, 1996
Army TEC 3
World War II Veteran
It was a great honor to walk 8.27 Miles with Army Veteran John William Peevely today. We started out by walking on Sparta Drive and we cut over to West Ave and headed north. We stopped in at the Obed River Park. It was very nice. I could hear the river running and the birds in the trees. The leaves are starting to turn up here on the mountain. So beautiful. We followed the path along the river and then we worked our way over to 127 and headed towards town. The trees along the way were so beautiful. We made a stop in the Veterans Memorial Park. We met about 5 or 6 Vietnam Veterans as some workers were installing a new Vietnam Memorial Plaque. It was nice visiting with my brothers and catch up on a few things. We said our goodbyes and I continued South and turned and headed towards Miller Ave. where I went into Holiday Hills and walked by the lake just before reaching home. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted today in helping me honor this hero. We had 362 honks today. It was amazing.
Army Veteran John William Peevely will not be forgotten !
