Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:
Army Veteran SPC Luis E. Llamas Jr, Age 24 of Los Angeles, CA.
Died Nov. 9, 2019
He was put to rest on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2019 at the age of 24 years old. He graduated from Montebello High School and enlisted in the Army right after. Luis served proudly with the 82D Airborne Division in the United States Army and earned an honorable discharge for his honorable and faithful service to our great nation. He was in the Army reserve and also worked as a security officer for Beverly Hospital where he recently earned Employee of the Year. He was a student at Pasadena City College. This Fall of 2019 was his first semester in school as he had hopes of becoming a physical therapist.
Luis tragically died from serious injuries that he suffered in a motorcycle accident on Nov. 7, 2019.
We had a great 6.96 Mile walk today. We walked to the Crossville Field Of Honor and took some photo’s and talked to a few people. We then headed to the War Memorial Park where we got to visit with several people. We stayed for the Veterans Day event and the unveiling of the Gold star Family Monument. We then headed back to the Crossville Field Of Honor to walk among the flags for the closing ceremony. Both events were amazing and we got to talk about SPC Llamas story with several people. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved and saluted in helping me honor this hero today. We had 221 honks today and we reached a record of 70,011 honks to date. It was amazing.
Army Veteran SPC Luis E. Llamas Jr will not be forgotten !
